A nice easy to park and quiet place near Reno.

Next was driving, lots of driving through Nevada. We took bets on how many miles to the the next turn, what would be the first live wild animal we’d see (it was an Antelope, all by himself munching on some grass) and counted the number of times we passed or were passed by the same auto. Good news is diesel prices were much lower than California.
Second Night, Wendover Historic Airfield

Although there are other places to camp in Wendover, we choose to use Harvest Host to stay and the Historic Airfield. It was hot, very hot and this was boondocking so there were no services. We managed to sit outside in a breeze until it was dark and time to step into the box for a night’s sleep. At least it wasn’t crowded.
That was expecting quite a bit in a metal box on a black surface. The dogs were panting, we were stripped down to just basics, every window was open and it was still hot. No fewer than 7 trains honked their way through the tracks about 200 yards away and big trucks came and went all night. No idea what they were doing or why, just very audible with all the windows open. So after a restless night it was time to hit the road again..
Third night, Rawlings KOA Journey
Best laid plans? We had mapped out a route to Echo Canyon East rest stop where we could catch up with other travelers from our group. There were 2 of us at the Airfield, but the time change and the heat made it hard to leave together -our dogs were loaded and ready to go and the other folks still had quite a bit of morning activities to accomplish, so we left first. And, then the other folks passed Echo Canyon but didn’t stop. So, there was a flurry of phone messages back and forth to determine where else we could meet. My wonderful App showed an “Unnamed gravel lot” was the closest thing, about 45 minute down the road. It did have a 4.4 rating, which was somewhat higher than the Flying J which was the next possible stop. And, our travel times had lengthened to about 1 hour between each of our rigs, so we soloed the rest of the way.

After a sleepless night and a long day of driving through Utah and Wyoming, we are at the KOA in Rawlins. The temperature is not nearly as hot as it was last night and we have caught up with the other travelers from the Northern California ACI club.
